Schatzbehalter – Das Portal für historische Kinder- und Jugendliteratur (Schatz) Save as PDFShow print view

The "Schatzbehalter – Das Portal für historische Kinder- und Jugendliteratur" is a project of the Arbeitsstelle für Kinder- und Jugendmedienforschung (ALEKI) of the University of Cologne and the Bilderbuchmuseum Burg Wissem (Museum der Stadt Troisdorf). The portal is primarily intended for use by researchers, teachers and students of children's and youth literature studies. The digital copies are indexed by 'Author', 'Title', 'Year of publication' and 'Classification'. The "Schatzbehalter" provides important texts of historical children's and young adult literature across genres – from the 15th to the beginning of the 20th century – as well as source texts and relevant research literature. Cooperation with German and international Jewish institutions and libraries has also made it possible to provide a unique section for Jewish literature for children and young people. The Jewish section primarily contains texts in German, but also in Hebrew. These writings belong to the corpus of texts classified by the Jewish community in the German-speaking world as cultural children's and youth literature in accordance with historical circumstances (including the respective understanding of childhood). Textbooks intended exclusively for school use were included up to the year of publication 1850. In addition to narrative children's and youth literature, children's poems, children's plays and non-fiction, the Jewish section also contains a selection of educational history source material.
